Chances are that in the past 36 hours, your feed has purely comprised of the terrifyingly fast roundabout that is the #auspol #libspill.

But finally, here’s some cheerful, wonderful, lovely news to warm the cockles of heart in a way that politics cannot:
South Australia‘s Monarto Zoo announced today that a gorgeous lil’ rhinoceros calf was born on Saturday afternoon, and mumma Umqali and baby are both doing extremely well. 

After waiting for more than 500 days, we’re thrilled to announce the arrival of a female Southern White Rhinoceros calf!…

“All rhinos are pretty rare and special, the way things are going at the moment, but for any baby born is just fantastic news for all involved, so we’re pretty happy to have this little girl on the ground,” said zookeeper Haidee Kinter.
The adorable calf is yet to be named.
