Gather round kids, there’s a little bit of a turf war going down in Wollongong, and it’s between two ice cream trucks battling it out for supremacy. Well, really it’s more like one truck causing terror, and in Dapto, to be specific, but that’s just the start of the chaos.

In the viral video, which was posted to Snapchat and obtained by the Daily Mail, a Whip ‘n Dip truck can be seen overtaking a Ken’s Cones truck, as well as blocking them from leaving their parked position to yell expletives at them.

The incident reportedly happened on Sunday between Kembla Grange and Dapto. The two drivers are said to have known each other for over a decade without any beef until now. I wonder what finally spoilt the milk.

“I’ve stopped and served my customers and he’s pulled up,” owner and driver Ken from Ken’s Cones told the Daily Mail.

“Pretty much every expletive was used, I remained calm and asked him to move on, then he went off at me again.”

Ken also told the Daily Mail that he’s been in the business of ice cream trucking for 28 years now, and has never encountered a problem. According to him, it’s pretty much unwritten code that drivers move along to another street or area when they see someone else is already there and selling.

His brand new rival, however, has for years now been selling yogurt to the people of Wollongong, only making the shift to ice cream sometime in the last 18 months.

Since the Daily Mail article, locals have rushed to the Ken’s Cones Facebook page to show their support for the 64-year-old, who operates the truck with just himself and his wife. The most commendable fact, it seems, is just how level-headed Ken was during the random tirade.

“Thank you for your kind words. It’s very much appreciated,” Ken wrote in reply.

“My blood sugar levels and blood pressure would have been at unsafe levels.”

Every day Ken posts a GPS tracker link to Facebook so you can see when he’s fast approaching, and honestly, it’s the cutest fkn thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

So hey, if you’re in the Wollongong area, go support our new favourite ice cream truck driver, Ken.

Meanwhile, I’m gonna sit my ass right here in Canberra and wait to see if more drama unfolds.
