Human Remains Confirmed To Have Been Found In Sydney’s Royal National Park

NSW Police and forensic investigators have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of several bones in the Royal National Park in the southern areas of Sydney over the weekend, which have been confirmed as human remains.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, the discovery was made by a member of the public who had stopped momentarily on Sir Bertram Stevens Drive late on Saturday afternoon.

The remains were collected by NSW Police’s forensic investigators, who are currently trying to determine age and gender, and will likely utilise dental and DNA records to confirm the identity of the deceased.

Police have suggested that the death is more likely to be suspicious, and also believe that the remains were in the location for quite sometime before the discovery.

It is believed that the remains were found in relatively close proximity to the place where Matthew Levenson‘s remains were located mid last year, but police believe that this death is not linked.

We’ll keep this updated as more information comes to hand.
