Actor Hugh Sheridan has taken to Instagram to reveal that his Hair castmate Matthew Manahan and his brother were victims of a violent street attack in Perth overnight.

Sharing a picture of himself with Manahan, he wrote:

“Tonight this kind soul pictured here with me was attacked for no reason, he was glassed in the street. Minutes later my beautiful brother was attacked by the same person just after leaving the theatre with me.”

He continued:

“I’ve just got back from the police station in North Bridge, I witnessed another senseless attack where people were spat on because of their race and a boy and his girlfriend were punched, I’m in shock, I’d never seen someone so aggressive and so fast, he had no motive and chose the sweetest people I know to hurt.”

Hugh Sheridan is starring in Hair alongside Manahan, Prinnie Stevens and Paulini of Australian Idol fame.

Sheridan said he was unsure if matinee and evening performances of the show would go ahead today, with Manahan in hospital awaiting a CAT scan, but organisers say they will continue as scheduled.

Per ABC News, two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been charged over several alleged assaults, including one in which a man aged in his 20s was hit on the head by a glass bottle.

They are due to face court today.
