Here’s Exactly What Went Into That Fkn Nuts ‘Game Of Thrones’ Battle Scene

SPOILER WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 9, obviously.

Alright. HOLY SHIT. That was on another level. The Battle of the Bastards promised us some quality Jon Snow vs Ramsay Bolton showdown and holyfackingshit did they deliver.

The wall of bodies. Jon almost getting buried alive. Ramsey controlling the whole thing like a sadistic puppet master and then that little face twitch when Littlefinger rides in with the knights of the Vale. Wow.

Miguel Sapochnik, who directed last season’s zombie-filled episode ‘Hardhome‘, was back to steer this beast of an episode, which was up there with any Lord of the Rings level-fight scenes, in this writer’s opinion. (And had serious Battle of Helms Deep vibes, no? Which I guess would make Littlefinger Gandalf the White. Christ.)

Game of Thrones
has made a scene explainer on just how they managed to pull that battle together, and whether or not you’re still riding the high of that episode or the comedown’s already hit, it’s a bloody good watch.

Oh, and btw – that heart-stopping scene where Jon faces an incoming stampede of cavalry? That is not CGI. 100% legit.

And since we’re discussing things here…. how fucking good was Ramsay being eaten alive by his own dogs??! And Sansa‘s smile. Help.
