While in reality our primary export might be iron ore and concentrates (full disclosure, I googled this), it feels like our actual primary export is videos of insane combinations of animals fighting each other. Something about the landscape in this country encourages Highlander-esque battles between snakes and birds and sharks and very big spiders and enormous lizards and basically anything else that can move. We are practically inundated with these videos on a frequent basis, so it is hard for any to stand out from the pack — hard to be shown something you haven’t seen before.
Allow me, for one second, to list for you some titles from American film direct-to-video film company The Asylum: Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus. Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus. Mega Shark Versus Mecha Shark. Mega Shark Versus Kolossus. Allow me, if you will, to add one more to this list: Python Versus Currawong.
You might think that a bird fighting a snake (or vice versa) is not a particularly big deal, but I doubt that you have ever seen a python coil a currawong up to the top of a television antenna like that python is the goddamn winch on a goddamn rescue helicopter.
Behold:
What a country.
