A Gym-Obsessed Couple In The US Legit Got Married In A 24-Hr Planet Fitness

Out of all the places on earth you would ideally want get married, a gym would probably be close to last.

For starters, most fitness centres are fugly.

They’re inhabited by many unique creatures, like overly-sweaty individuals who don’t wear deodorant, instructors who will drop in and tell you your form’s off and blokes who grunt like they’re pushing a newborn out their ass.

And all that torturous machinery? It doesn’t exactly scream ‘holy matrimony’.

In spite of all this, a shred-obsessed couple over in the US have chosen to exchange nuptials at a 24-hour Planet Fitness in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Despite how off-putting that previous sentence sounds, newlyweds Joe and Stephanie Hughes‘ love story is actually kinda cute.

Legend has it Joe approached Stephanie while she was balancing on a bosu ball in the PF 360 room and it was love at first… lift.

The pair started meeting for gym sessions shortly thereafter, and Joe told Stephanie he loved her for the first time in the Western Hills Planet Fitness parking lot.

After Joe proposed, the gym agreed to host the wedding, and a Planet Fitness staff member even officiated the ceremony. Christ on an exercise bike.

It gets better.

According to The Cut, the ‘aisle’ Mrs. Hughes paced down to meet her soon-to-be-husband was somewhere between the ellipticals and some weight machines. The couple wore matching “bride” and “groom” runners and posed for photos on cardio equipment along with their 18-strong wedding party.

Planet Fitness capped off the celebrations by presenting the pair with a novelty oversized check of USD$5,000.

And shit, if the above description of events wasn’t enough to make you barf like you just chugged a litre of off milk and ran a marathon, this video of their love story should do the trick:

Here’s hoping their marriage lasts longer than my last gym subscription did.
