Gunman On The Run After Allegedly Shooting Policeman Dead In QLD

A police officer has died after being shot during a car chase in the Lockyer Valley at around 2.20pm this afternoon.
After evading police at a traffic stop and leading them on a chase near Toowoomba, the suspect is believed to have got out of his car and shot Senior Constable Brett Forte with a semi-automatic machine gun before fleeing once again.
The gunman is now believed to be holed up in a farm house northwest of Gatton, where it’s understood he shot at a police helicopter while moving from his vehicle to the house.
Police have engaged in a siege situation, along with the Special Emergency Response Team
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has given a statement sending her condolences to the family of Senior Constable Forte, and reminding Queenslanders:
“Every day, the brave officers of the Queensland Police Service put their lives on the line when they go to work.

“Each of us should be immensely grateful for the work they do.”
The area around the farm house, near the Lockyer State Forest, remains locked down, with no-one allowed in or out.

Our thoughts are with the Queensland Police, and Officer Forte’s family.
