The good people at Guide Dogs Victoria and Yarra Trams have teamed up to bring you another wholesome Pat and Chat session. If you’re not so familiar with the event, a Pat and Chat involves a bunch of Guide Dog ambassadors, a tram, and lots of cuddles. The aim of the day, apart from spreading the love, is to raise awareness for public transport accessibility for commuters with low vision or blindness. The Pat and Chat is also a great way for others to learn how to best assist a commuter with vision impairment or low vision.
The upcoming Pat and Chat session is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 June between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The blessed tram number is 5003, which you can find on the day via TramTracker. Alternatively, you’re looking for the Route 19 tram travelling from Stop 7 at Queen Victoria Market down Elizabeth Street in the CBD.

… It’s been three months so I believe it’s time to revisit and re-cry at Charlie and his ‘seeing eye dog’ Maverick.
Back in March, Charlie and Maverick’s family Adam and Chelsea Stripe introduced the pair to the world via Instagram. Instantly, hearts imploded.
11-year-old Charlie had glaucoma which “led to his double enucleation (both eyes removed),” they explained on the social media platform. “Now, Maverick is here to help Charlie around and Charlie is trying to teach Maverick manners.”
Wait, don’t cry yet.
“When they would play, Maverick would realise that Charlie would lose the toy sometimes,” the Stripes told USA Today. “So [Maverick] would pick it up and put it back in front of him to re-engage playtime.”
