Greens MP Expertly Trolls Coal, Using ‘Zoolander’ As A Weapon

ICYMI, the Minerals Council of Australia released an ad over the weekend telling Australians that coal is amazing, and it didn’t go down well.

While we’re still unclear on what the thinking (if any) behind that was, the ad itself has been annihilated on social media – and now politicians are adding to the pile on.

Greens MP Adam Bandt – aka further proof that the Greens, not Clive Palmer, are the loosest units in politics – posted this early ’00s pop culture reference and hot diggity dam, it’s brilliant:

And also coal is really, really ridiculously good looking.

Such is the widespread and ~timeless~ appeal of Zoolander that the puns available to us as a response to Bandt’s post are basically finite.

The comments section is already bejewelled with “What is this? A refugee intake for ants?”; “Coal is so hot right now”; “We need to build a school for prime ministers that can’t prime minister good”; and “Coal can deralik (sic) my balls”. If any of these are you, then congrats and thank you for your service. A++

We’ll throw in one of our own – “Coal is the essence of money, and money is the essence of amazing.”

Then we’re out, BYE.
