Google Hid A Cheeky Easter Egg In Their Latest News, Goes Full Meta

Google just proved themselves to be top [CHEEKY] DAWG of the corporate world, inserting a quality inside joke into their v. v. big press release about their new parent company, Alphabet.

Quick catch up: Google – the thing you use for words you can’t remember how to spell – will still be Google. It’ll just be owned by Alphabet, along with a bunch of other companies that previously fell under the Google umbrella. Read about it HERE.

POLITICO deputy media editor Alex Weprin discovered the easter egg, either operating on a whim or a solid knowledge of Google’s history of hiding gags just about everywhere. (i.e. swimming across oceans on Google Maps, barrel-rolling Google, etc.)

He delved into the abc.xyz source code (the delightfully appropriate URL of Alphabet), found it, and left instructions for the whole world to follow:

If you follow his instructions, you’ll end up HERE – the website for fictional company Hooli, which features in HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley‘, and in a delightfully meta twist, is meant to represent Google itself.

OH, YOU.

There’s also this – slightly more NSFW, possibly unintentional – joke, noticed by Natt Garun at TNW News:

The letter blocks: they spell out MAD SEX. They may or may not be meant to.
