Gird Your Noses NSW ‘Cause You’re In For The Worst Flu Season On Record

Hey New South Wales, you’re in for a real shit one.
It looks like this winter is gonna be the worst flu season on record.
you and you and you and you and you
Half-year figures of confirmed cases of the flu are 21 per cent higher than 2009, the previous worst year on record. So this year will be the worst by a long snot. I mean shot.
5,000 cases of the illness have already been recorded in NSW, and we’re not even into the very thick of the season.
‘Straya-wide, peak flu season runs from August to September, but NSW Health reckons we’ll hit the peak by the end of July.
While a case of the flu is devastating on a personal level, it also has repercussions for the whole community. I know this because I tried to get a massage the other day and they were shut because all the masseuses were sick.
No but really, having tonnes of people off sick has a serious impact on our resources, especially our hospitals. When you’ve got people rocking up to the emergency department with a flu, it clogs our system.
Opposition health spokesman Walt Secord‘s advice?

“It’s in everyone’s interest to get a flu shot, there’s still time.”
Shots suck, but they’re better than being bedridden.
“Certain groups in the community like pregnant women and people with underlying health problems are eligible for a free flu vaccine each year but everyone else is recommended to get it and they can get it from their GP or their pharmacy,” doctor Vicky Sheppard of NSW Health has said.
Shots typically last for 6-12 months and you can read more about them here.
Be careful, folks, and for Pete’s sake: cover your mouth when you sneeze on the train.
