Friend Of Cancer Patient Comforted By Beau Ryan Says She’s Still Fighting

A true thing about the universe is that it tends to suck. This year in particular has been particularly awful.
Sure, we have nice things happen, but, generally, those are things like new series of TV shows we like or someone makes a cool GIF or whatever. Rarely do we see things happen that are just genuinely and fundamentally good.
After Jillaroo and women’s sevens star Mahalia Murphy late last night put out a request on social media for help tracking down either Greg Inglis or Beau on behalf of her friend Kia, a big fan with “roughly four hours to live as she’s fighting cancer“, Beau jumped straight in his car to make the two hour drive to her bedside.

Two hours later and there he was, being a wonderful dude.
Despite yesterday being given 12 hours to live, Kia has been doing well since last night, with Mahalia posting to Facebook to say that Kia and her family were grateful for the support they had received:

“Just an appreciation post to say thanks from Kia and her family, the supportive comments have been overwhelming and very much appreciated. The ongoing support is unreal and can’t thank you all enough for this.

“This is just a brief update on Kia, despite the fact the doctors gave Kia a time frame of 12 hours to live, she is fortunately still breathing herself after them taking all the tubes and cords out to assist her breathing. She is extremely sleepy but still responding well at times.

“She is incredibly strong as she continues to fight this battle! She’s in very good hands with her loved ones around her.”

How bloody lovely is that.
