Flooding In Adelaide Was Way Too Much For This Soggy Lil Koala To Bear

So unless you’ve been living under the sea for the past week, you would’ve noticed that in most capital cities this week it’s been bloody raining. A lot.

A nasty cold front has ripped any ideas we had of a warm, pleasant early Spring away and replaced it with torrents of rain across the south-eastern parts of the country.
Adelaide in particular has copped an absolute belting. Certain parts of the South Australian capital received about 70mm of rain in the 24 hours to 4:00pm yesterday, causing several river banks to fill and burst, with flood warnings still in place for much of the area surrounding the city today.
And it’s not just the local humans who are getting soggy feet either. The wildlife is scampering for higher ground as well.
A local resident in Stirling, to the south-east of the CBD, snapped a photo of a soggy, exhausted lil koala clinging to refuge atop a fence post as flood waters rage behind him.

LIL GUY OH MAN.
The photo, taken by Russell Latter and posted to Facebook, did the rounds of the ole’ internet overnight and eventually found itself on the front page of the Adelaide Advertiser this morning.
Fortunately, this teeny little yarn does have a nice ending. The tired little bloke apparently just needed a bit of a rest before he hopped back down and made his way to a nearby gum tree.
Latter posted a series of other photos of the soggy dude a short little while ago.

There’s even a video! Lookit!

Don’t worry, little bud. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting rain to ease in the area over the next few days. Whilst there will be showers in Adelaide (and much of the south-east of the country) for at least a week yet, the worst of the rain seems to have passed for the time being.
Climb on, dude!
