Predicting the future is impossible (unless of course you’re Yoda, a robot or Phoebe Halliwell). But you should always try to plan for it. That’s reason enough why keeping a diary should always figure into your New Year’s resolution plans. Preferably one with a spirit guide on it. So in the interest of keeping you as up to date as possible with the big pop culture happenings of 2015, we’ve put together this concise list of the top five dates to pencil in for next year. You’re welcome. All you need now’s a diary.

APRIL: SEASON PREMIERE OF MAD MEN’S FINAL SEASON
At long last. After pulling the old “split the final season into two parts and ride this baby until the wheels fall off” ratings pull perfected last year with Breaking Bad, AMC will premiere the second instalment of the seventh and final season of Mad Men next spring. That’s our autumn so if the roll out mirrors that of the first instalment – The Beginning – expect to see the densest show on television return in late March or early April. In the meantime, here’s Rich Sommer aka Harry Crane’s recalling his fondest memories of his castmates.

ALL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR: HIGH STREET MANIA
As last week’s record sell out of Alexander Wang x H&M attests, Aussies be shopping and loving it. Combine on-trend basics with endless choice and affordable price points and you’ve got permission to print money. And in 2015, that trend will only get bigger. Uniqlo is slated to open its second Victorian location at Chadstone Shopping Centre and its second New South Wales store at the Macquarie Center. Other High Street expansions to look out for include H&M, Zara and Topshop and Topman, as well as the national debuts of Forever 21, Marks & Spencer and fuss-free Japanese lifestyle emporium, Muji.
ANY DATE WILL DO: MARRIAGE EQUALITY
As we reported a few months back, a nation-wide telephone survey of randomly selected Australians found that the majority of people – 72% to be exact – supported same sex marriage reform. As it stands now, that right exists in seventeen other countries – Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Uruguay – and society as we know it has yet to crumble in ruins. C’mon Australia, it’s time.
