Fifth Person Dies In Aftermath Of Melbourne’s ‘Thunderstorm Asthma’ Event

A fifth person has died after Melbourne’s “thunderstorm asthma” outbreak, due to complications brought on by the freak event.

Victorian Department of Health and Human Services announced the patient’s death, but did not reveal details regarding their age nor their sex.

However, the Herald Sun reports the patient was believed to have been a woman in her 40s, who was undergoing treatment at Epping’s North Hospital.

Six other patients remain in intensive care around the state, with four of them currently in critical conditions.
The DHHS also confirmed 20 other people in less severe situations are still receiving treatment.
This latest fatality comes after Clarence Leo, Apollo Papadopoulos, Hope Carniveli, and Omar Moujalled tragically lost their lives in the aftermath of Monday’s storms.
