This varied role will see you assisting the Head of Publicity and Director of Corporate Communications, maintaining press clipping files daily and distributing them in a timely manner, assisting publicists with day to day requirements, carrying out program research and more. You’ll be working in a fast paced team environment where your proactive approach will be worth its weight in gold. An opportunity has opened up for a Community Moderator (SYD) to join the newsroom at The Guardian, everyone’s fave Brit publisher down under. Working as part of the UK night moderator team, this Sydney based role is primarily responsible for maintaining a high level of debate and interaction on guardian.com and nurturing and guiding user discussion. In this role you will be responsible for monitoring all areas of reader comments on theguardian.com, ensuring debate is conducted within the guidelines set down in GNM’s terms and conditions and community standards and using community management tools and techniques. You will liaise with and advise editorial staff over user interaction issues on comment threads, assist editors with queries on comments and interaction with contributors and share and cultivate good community practice in the editorial and community teams. To be suited for the role, you’ll need some demonstrable experience of participating in online communities up ur sleeve, as well as excellent attention to detail, to be able to build relationships with people at all levels and be highly computer literate.
