Police are hunting a gunman involved in a shooting at a cafe in Sydney‘s Bankstown City Plaza after a man was shot dead at around 3:40pm local time this afternoon.
The victim, described by the Sydney Morning Herald as “in his 60s“, was reportedly shot in the pelvis at point-blank range while at the Happy Cup Cafe and died at the scene after paramedics were unable to revive him. The man is yet to be formally identified.
Speaking to reporters, a NSW Police spokesperson said that they currently believe it to be a “targeted attack“:

Witnesses speaking to the Daily Telegraph described hearing three to four gunshots and seeing a young woman administering CPR to the man before police arrived.
It is understood that the suspect is currently still at large.
