afl grand final 2026

The AFL Grand Final long weekend is almost here and for plenty of people that means a day at the pub with mates or a packed living room. For others, it can be a particularly dangerous weekend.

Victoria Police recorded 868 family violence incidents over last year’s Grand Final weekend. Police attended 315 incidents on Grand Final Day alone, a 5 per cent rise on the year before.

If you are concerned about someone’s safety, or your own this weekend there are services that can help. You do not need to wait for a situation to get worse before contacting one.
