Facebook Patents Lit, On Fleek, Woke, Savage System To Detect New Slang

Got a weird slang word that you and your deadshit mates use? Facebook wants to know about it.
The social media giant has been granted a patent for a software system that detects neologisms – cool new slang, nicknames and turns of phrase – before they become cool, sucking them up into a ‘social glossary’, the purposes of which are not totally clear.
Finally, Mark Zuckerberg will be harnessing his incredible technological power for a noble goal: understanding what ‘on fleek’ means.
Speculation suggests they might be using it to fill out a predictive text dictionary, so when a new slang word emerges in the wild, they can ensure that you at the very least know how to spell it. So you won’t completely embarrass yourself trying to get in on the joke in a comment section.
Knowing how Facebook operates, this kind of system would probably also be a boon for its marketing and ad placement, too.
So next time you’re throwing around the latest slang in a cool and measured effort to seem like you’re with it, there’s probably a Facebook algorithm watching.
