Eyewitnesses “In Shock” After 23-Year-Old’s Fatal Fall At NSW National Park

A 23-year-old man has died after a tragic, 10-meter plunge from a waterfall in Brisbane Falls National Park, a popular tourist spot on the NSW Central Coast, over the weekend.

The young man was at Somersby Falls with his family on Sunday afternoon when he took the fall, at approximately 4.45pm; eyewitnesses present say that he slipped on the rocks.
A nearby group of young men attempted to help the young man in the 10 minutes before paramedics arrived, and reportedly helped them carry medical equipment to the scene.
Police and ambulance officers attended to the 23-year-old, but were unable to revive him.
An eyewitness, whose partner had attempted to help the man, later wrote on social media that both had “taken it pretty bad”, adding:

“We are both in shock & can’t believe what has happened today. Life is so fragile & so precious. I was with his mother the whole time trying to help her. My heart breaks for her and the family he has left behind.”
Another praised paramedics for their attempts to revive the man, saying:
“The work of everyone in rescue and emergency is beyond of words. [We] saw your work first hand and it left us speechless.”
Police do not consider the incident to be suspicious, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
