Exclusive Preview: Dion Lee Covers Manuscript IX

With mutual interests including impeccable craftsmanship, emanating chic vibes and pioneering an aesthetic nonpareil, it makes perfect sense that Dion Lee should cover the latest issue of local menswear quarterly Manuscript.

Ahead of the ninth issue’s unveiling tomorrow, founding editor and publishing polymath Mitchell Oakley Smith has given us a little insight into the reason for choosing his latest cover star, telling Pedestrian, “It was always our mission to profile Australian men doing great things and who are respected internationally, and I can’t think of a more appropriate example than Dion Lee, who recently returned from another hugely successful showing in New York City soon after opening his debut concept store in Sydney. Did I mention that he’s only 28? Bravo.”

In addition to his frankly devastating youth and a list of achievements that would make serial overachievers hang their heads for shame, Lee also puts his genetic material to good use in an accompanying editorial shot by frequent Manuscript collaborator Paul Scala, with cutting edge styling in the most literal sense by fashion director, Jolyon Mason, and ample wet-look grooming by Jenny Kim
Below is an exclusive preview of that shoot and a look at the issue’s characteristically arresting cover, which hits stands at all good newsagents tomorrow (Thursday, March 6th, $6.00; stockists and more information here).
