Ex-ACA Reporter Ben McCormack’s Child Porn Trial Adjourned Until September

The trial of former A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack, who has been charged with an offence related to child pornography, has been adjourned until September 5 as police prepare their brief of evidence.

The 42-year-old reporter has been charged with one count of using a carriage service to send child pornography materials over the internet. Police earlier divulged that the charges involved McCormack engaging in sexually explicit conversations with another adult man about children.
The court heard there are still eight statements outstanding from police investigators.
McCormack has not made a plea, and his lawyer Sam Macedone told reports outside the courthouse that they would wait for the completed police brief before they decided how to proceed. At an earlier appearance, Macedone clarified to reporters that the nature of McCormack’s charges had “nothing to do with the usual child pornography” and that it was “nothing more than a discussion”.
We’ll keep you posted.
