Ewan McGregor is in final talks to play the big baddie in Birds Of Prey, the upcoming Suicide Squad spin-off featuring Australia’s own Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

The Wrap reports McGregor is a favourite to portray noted Batman baddie Black Mask, a disgraced son of an immensely wealthy family who takes up a life of crime (and quasi-BDSM fashion).
The bloke is known in the Batman universe for fancying torture. Canonically, the dude spent a lot of time in Arkham Asylum with the other noted crooks of Gotham. Taken together, it appears McGregor will be playing a bad, bad dude.
He will be faced by the eponymous Birds of Prey, the superheroic gang which includes Quinn, the screaming Black Canary (played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who appeared alongside McGregor in Fargo).
Rosie Perez has also signed on to play Gotham City detective Renee Montoya.
Cathy Yan has been tapped to direct the film, becoming the first Asian woman to oversee a major Hollywood superhero flick.
Birds Of Prey is expected to make it big screen debut in 2020.
