Universally Loved Emma Thompson Becomes A Dame In Queen’s Birthday Honours

Beloved actor Emma Thompson has become ~ Dame Emma Thompson ~ for her services to drama in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Thompson will officially be awarded the damehood at Buckingham Palace.

Of course, this isn’t Thompson’s first brush with total domination. Her role in Howards End earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1993 followed by an Academy Award for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay in 1996 for Sense and Sensibility because Thompson can do anything.

Chuck in a couple of Golden Globe, BAFTA, New York Film Critic Circle, Empire Award, British Independent Film, Critic’s Choice Movie, and the Writer’s Guild of America awards and you have yourself a very impressive Pool Room. And that’s not even all the awards Thompson has received for her craft.

The Birthday Honours list was released to the public earlier today and recognises British citizens for their services to their country. The tradition dates back to 1860 when Queen Victoria awarded the first Birthday Honour.

The honours are handed out twice a year, once at New Years and again on the Queen’s Birthday
