YouTube star and UK television presenter Emily Hartridge has died in London after the electric scooter she was riding collided with a truck at a roundabout in Battersea on Friday morning (UK time).

The 35-year-old, who built up a following of over 340k subscribers on her lifestyle, dating and sex advice channel, had also built a career in TV presenting in recent years.

On Saturday (UK time), a message was posted to Emily’s Instagram account where she has over 55k followers confirming that Emily had tragically lost her life.

The Guardian reports that Emily’s death is “the first fatal collision involving an e-scooter in Britain”, pointing out that the contraptions are currently not legal to be used on British public roads “as they are not considered to be roadworthy vehicles”.

The Metropolitan Police put out a press statement confirming that a woman in her 30s had died at the scene after suffering serious injuries in the accident. They appealed for any witnesses or those with dash cam footage to come forward.
