VIC Man Asks For His Drugs Back Moments After Car Crash At Police Station

A man in Victoria has been arrested for the second time in two days, after the car in which he was travelling crashed outside a police station in Richmond. Officers say he then entered the station to demand the return of some drugs that had earlier been confiscated from him.

Per a VIC Police media release entitled ‘Poor Parking Job In Richmond‘:

“An off-duty police member observed a car drive onto the footpath, into a garden bed and strike a fire hydrant outside the Richmond Police Station about 3.30pm [Saturday]. A male passenger got out of the car and entered the police station while the female driver reversed her vehicle into a neighbouring car park. The 59-year-old Croydon South man told police he attended the station to retrieve drugs that were seized from him when he was arrested the day before.”

The off-duty officer apprehended the driver of the car, a 57-year-old woman, as she attempted to leave the scene of the incident. She was taken to hospital as a precaution and will be interviewed at a later date regarding driving and drug-related offenses.

The man was searched by officers, and a subsequent search of the car uncovered a quantity of a substance believed to be heroin. He was charged with offenses relating to possession of drugs and breach of bail. As for the fire hydrant, VIC Police say it “has a slight lean.”
