Dreamworld’s BuzzSaw Ride Flagged For Safety Issues In Post-Accident Audit

A Workplace Health and Safety check at Dreamworld, ordered after the tragic death of four guests at the Gold Coast park last month, has uncovered three possible safety issues with the park’s popular BuzzSaw rollercoaster.
In a statement, Dreamworld’s chief execute Craig Davidson revealed three ‘prohibition notices’ were issued regarding the attraction.
The ride’s safety anchor harnesses were singled out as areas of concern, along with an error in maintenance procedures, and an issue regarding a gate on the ride’s control booth.

According to WHSQ, a prohibition notice must be acted upon immediately, and Dreamworld is now attending to those issues.
Of course, the check comes as part of three wholesale reviews of park safety procedures; all attractions are being tested internally, by another engineering firm, and by an international theme park expert.
Several other opportunities for improving guest and employee safety on other attractions were also flagged during the audit.
Davidson stressed that “safety is our paramount concern,” and reiterated that the park won’t be rushing the process. Nevertheless, he also stated a reopening date for the park will be announced soon.
The cause of the Thunder River Rapids ride malfunction is yet to be determined.
Best of luck to the Dreamworld crew.
