Dramatic Footage Shows Woman Rescued From Train Tracks W/ Seconds To Spare

Holy christ on a bike. If you’ve ever needed an important PSA for not being drunk around train stations, this is it.

Victoria Police have released dramatic footage of the moment a woman was rescued from the train tracks in the absolute nick of time.

The women, who was intoxicated, crossed the train tracks but struggled to get up the other side. One man can be seen coming over to her aid, but it’s only when another three officers run over  that they manage to pull the woman up, with literal seconds to spare.

“It’s the closest I’ve seen to someone getting hit by a train,” said Steven Goldman, one of the Protective Services Officers (PSO) who came to her rescue. “I don’t think she realised the seriousness of what she had done.”

The train driver had hit the emergency brake, but could not stop in time.

Constable Ben Mitchell said it was more common than you’d think to see someone crossing the tracks. (The location of this station has been withheld to protect the woman’s identity.)

“Nearly every day you would see someone either crossing the level crossing or jumping between the tracks,” he said.

“It happens a lot and it is incredibly dangerous,” added Goldman. “I think a lot of people just don’t realise how dangerous it is. She’s very lucky to be alive because I guess had we not been in the spot that we were in, it would have been a very bad outcome on the day.”

The woman has been charged for entering the railway tracks, which are a restricted area, and Goldman, Mitchell and former PSO Robert Jackson have all been awarded for their bravery.
