For years now doctors have been acquainting us with the ‘glass-a-day’ theory. The age-old remedy could well be true – at least according to some experts who are suggesting that, through moderation, alcohol could help cure the devastating dementia disease.
Research has shown that alcohol is an anti-inflammatory and helps raise beneficial HDL cholesterol. The downside of this seemingly alluring news is that ‘binge drinking ‘ will heighten our chances of dementia.
The parameters for the term ‘binging’ vary from country to country – Australia is statistically one of the world’s heaviest drinking countries – so, suffice to say, a slab of Carlton Draught probably won’t produce many advantageous medical benefits. Except for a really fucking good night out.
