Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark Trailer

The title might tell you otherwise but in the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s reworking of 70s horror classic “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”, a lack of light feels like a fairly good indication of impending death. This of course, doesn’t bode well for the young girl (Bailee Madison) who is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in a creepy Victorian house which seems to be overrun by demons and faulty light bulbs.

Another thing: the trailer is meant to be experienced in complete darkness so we’d suggest taking your laptop into the bathroom and killing the lights to experience the following two minutes as it was intended. By the time the Lord Of The Rings style whispers dovetail with the brief but eerie imagery you’ll be glad you have access to running water and toilet paper.

Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark opens on January 21, 2011.
