Sun Tzu‘s The Art Of War says that “if your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him”, so either Donald Trump is well-versed in ancient military tactics, or just gives zero fucks and runs his mouth whenever and however he feels. Based on his latest Twitter outburst against Kim Jong-un, we sort of suspect the latter.
Trump is currently on his first official visit to Asia as US President, and has pledged to use the trip negotiating with China and other powers in the area in order to address the increasing nuclear threat from North Korea. He also found time to Tweet this earlier today:
Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me “old,” when I would NEVER call him “short and fat?” Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!

Trump’s Tweet was likely in response to a statement from the official North Korean state news agency last week, which said that “no-one can predict when the lunatic old man of the White House, lost to senses, will start a nuclear war.”
In summary, we have officially entered an era in which a grown-ass adult who has access to the nuclear codes is lobbing schoolyard insults to try and get a rise out of the other guy with the nuclear codes. Interesting times indeed, folks.
