Those in Australia who tend not to give much of a shit about American politics have been forced to give a shit recently, with the wild content worming its way out of the Land of the Free, especially around Donald Trump.
Well, he’s hit a reasonably major roadblock in his absolutely massive trouncing in Wisconsin to opponent Ted Cruz. He lost in double digits, 34 – 48.
It’s a big deal because Wisconsin should be a huge win for Trump. It has a massive white working class contingent – his natural demographic – and polling throughout the state has been good for him for some time. Him losing is not a good look, and doesn’t bode well for his plan to sail into the Republican National Convention with the number of delegates needed to secure the nomination outright.
He’s losing it over this one. He labelled Cruz a “Trojan horse” and a weapon of the Republican establishment, who don’t want a Donald Trump presidency. Cruz is pretty happy about it, saying that it is a “rallying cry” that the people of America “have a choice.”
For a while it looked like Trump was going to sail right into the race, facing off against either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. Now, it’s not so certain.
