Donald Trump Is Set To Head Down Under In November, So That’ll Be Fun

Gird your loins, folks, because it appears that none other than Donald Trump is set to make his first visit to Australia as US President, stopping in here in mid-November ahead of the APEC leaders’ summit in Papua New Guinea.

A US government source told The Australian that security assessments are currently being undertaken with a view to a visit during a tour of the Asia-Pacific region. Nothing is confirmed as yet, but Donald Trump’s likely itinerary will include SydneyCanberra and Cairns.

Brisbane is also a possibility, as the city is being considered as a meeting point for world leaders travelling to Port Moresby.

The APEC summit will take place on November 17-18, however, there are reportedly concerns as to local infrastructure, and whether or not the airport airport will be able to fully accommodate the beast that is Air Force One.

There are not enough hotel rooms in Port Moresby to house the influx of foreign delegates and their entourages, so three separate P&O cruise ships have been chartered, with the capacity to hold 4000 guests for the duration of the summit.

It is possible that some world leaders’ planes will be stored here during the summit, and the Turnbull government has considered contingency plans to host APEC events in Cairns or Brisbane, although PNG has not yet asked Australia to host any events.
