Domain Is Back-Pedalling Hard After This Terrible Take On Trump’s Victory

Every so often, we’re subjected to an event of such monumental consequence that it has a ripple effect on every aspect of our lives.

You can see where we’re going here, right?

Donald Trump’s election victory already feels like it’s ushered in a new status quo of no status quo, and you’ll find people tryna assess the impact of his shock win all over the place. That includes the realm of real estate, and you better believe Domain cooked up a take on the possible ramifications of a Trump presidency for Aussie home-owners.

In an article entitled The upside of a Donald Trump presidency for Australia’s prestige home owners, Domain asserted Trump’s four-year-stint in the White House could be an absolute boon for Aussies with prestige houses of their own – while largely skirting over the horrific financial reality many economists have predicted.
FWIW, some choice snippets from the actual article include a quote from AMP‘s chief number-cruncher Shane Oliver, who said “the relocation effect from Trump’s electoral win could be good news for the top end of the market… But the flipside is that a trade war that drags Australia into a recession and impacts adversely on our share market would see a big drag on our broader property market.”
Minor factor, that one.
Amidst a general wailing and gnashing of teeth, punters somehow found time to call out the publication for its tone-deaf take. Shortly after Twitter denizens clocked the article’s title, it was rebranded to Agents await surge of US buyers following Donald Trump’s victory at the polls.

In recognition that their original headline had a very “meh” vibe, Domain is now walking its OG stance right the hell back:

We invite you to get your head around their responses to readers’ fed-up Tweets, ’cause there are quite simply too many to list here.
Look, everything is still uncertain, but at least we now know who was the first to fall in the Great Take War of 2016.
