Calling all true crime podcast aficionados: the bloke behind monster sensation Dirty John is headed down under for a series of live conversations.
Christopher Goffard – who created, wrote and hosted the podcast about criminal and master grifter John Meehan – is coming to Australia next March to talk about creating the series that’s dominating the podcast charts and every conversation you’ve had.
If you’re not familiar with Dirty John, it’s an LA Times-produced podcast that explores what happens when Debra Newell, a successful interior designer living in the bougie neighbourhood of Orange County, meets an anaesthesiologist via a dating website by the name of John Meehan. She’s head over heels, but her kids aren’t sure that John is who he says he is, and over six episodes and a via series of candid interviews, Goffard pieces together a gripping tale of violence and manipulation that arrives at a harrowing climax.
In short? It’s peak binge-listening, and if you haven’t gotten around to it yet then get going today. On your way home. At work, I don’t care.
So yep, Goffard is touching down in Australia early next year, stopping in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to talk all things true crime and Dirty John.
