Some Absolute Sicko Crims Stole Three Raptor Heads At The ACT Dino Museum

Sometimes a news story emerges that makes even the most season journalist want to chuck their guts. The kind of thing that exposes the grim underbelly of our shared reality, and extinguishes that faint glimmer of hope we all try to maintain in the face of constant, unrelenting horror.

Over the weekend, someone decapitated three velociraptors at the National Dinosaur Museum in Canberra.

This was not merely the senseless actions of a depraved and unwell individual. This was a planned attack on the helpless dinos. According to ACT Police, CCTV footage shows the a possibly suspicious 4×4 driving along the western side of the building. The offenders would have had to climb a 4-foot fence to access the dinosaurs, and the damage was reportedly consistent with a hacksaw or angle grinder.

These were clearly people who craved the sweet, sweet prize of a fibreglass dinosaur head – perhaps to sell on the darkweb to fellow sickos. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a syndicate of some description operating behind the scenes, trading in these kind of perverse trophies. I feel like throwing up.

The damage occurred between 10:55pm and 11:20pm on Saturday night. Cops are urging anyone who knows anything about it to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
