Dave Hughes And Derryn Hinch Talk Binge Drinking, Trade Insults On ‘Q&A’

Q&A is nothing at all without the clashing of inflated egos, and last night’s edition managed to deliver that, with panelists Dave Hughes and Derryn Hinch chucking schoolyard-worthy taunts at one-another.

Our Prime Minister’s now-legendary skol over the weekend led to a discussion on the topic of binge drinking, and Hinch, a recovering alcoholic, opened up about his younger days, saying “I used to drink for Australia.”
He later joked that he only drank because he loved the taste of wine.
“That’s because you’re a wanker,” Hughes laughed.
“It takes one to know one,” replied Hinch.

Q&A managed to cover a lot of ground last night, touching on mental health, with Trade Minister Andrew Robb discussing his battles with depression, and Hughes revealing how he quit smoking cannabis and drinking in his early 20s.
Young Darwin boy Ethan Egart won viewer hearts when he sent in a video question about a 10-year-old mate with autism who is facing deportation to the Philippines
One topic that remained off the table was the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership. A group of protesters at the Melbourne Recital Hall berated host Tony Jones for not bringing up the subject, on which Andrew Robb has been conducting talks in secret.
Jones told a protester “we have a question about that if you just hold your horses,” but the show came and went without any discussion.
As Tony mentions in the above video, if you’re feeling depressed or need to talk, you can contact Lifeline on 131114.
