A magnitude 7.2 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia rattled Darwin early this afternoon, with tremors shaking buildings for nearly five minutes and causing evacuations across the city.
There have been no reports of injuries in the city as a result of the tremors, while potential damage to buildings is yet to be fully assessed.
Footage captured in the city shows household items and office equipment shaking during the quake.

The NT News reports shops in the Casuarina Shopping Centre were evacuated as a safety precaution, while office workers were filmed standing outside after leaving their buildings.

Geoscience Australia states the quake struck in the Banda Sea at 11:53am local time, at a depth of about 207 metres.
Fortunately, the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre confirmed there is no active tsunami warning for the Darwin region.
