Congratulations to the increasingly prolific and endlessly talented Australian filmmaker Daniel Askill (interview here) whose film, Nocturna, was awarded the Le Book prize at the festival at the acclaimed Diane Pernet fashion film festival in Paris on Friday September 24th.
Judges this year included Mike Figgis, Michael Nyman, Paolo Roversi, Bryan Adams and Dita Von Teese.
Nocturna was created for AnOther magazine in a collaboration between Daniel and friend choreographer Adam Linder as well as Dan’s equally talented brother Jordan Askill who created the one-off headpieces in the film. Daniel describes the film as “a strange little nocturnal world of bodies and light… The shoot was me with a digital SLR and Adam, Jordan and Anne spasming, convulsing and running in the darkness with hand-held strobe flashes.”
