‘MAFS’ Star Cyrell Paule Says She Was The Victim Of A “Racist Attack” At A NSW Café

Former MAFS star Cyrell Paule has taken to Instagram to call out a NSW café, alleging that she suffered a racially-motivated attack on the premises.

In Cyrell’s Instagram story from yesterday, the visibly shaken former reality TV star and her boyfriend, former Love Island star Eden Dally, recount an incident they say took place at the Pelican Café at Shoal Bay, north of Newcastle.

Cyrell and Eden explain in the videos that they were at the café when an altercation occurred, thought it is not clear whether the argument involved another customer or a staff member.

The couple allege that then a staff member from Pelican Café grabbed Cyrell around the throat before following her out onto the street calling her a “black monkey”.

Cyrell, who is of Filipino descent, reposted footage of the incident captured by another customer, which shows a blonde woman grabbing her around the neck. While one woman involved in the incident is wearing sunglasses and appears to be a customer, it’s unclear whether the woman who grabs Cyrell is a staff member or customer.

News Corp reports that the café posted on Facebook saying that no staff members were involved in the incident, but have since deleted the post.

Cyrell also shared this online review of the café apparently posted by someone who claims they witnessed the incident.

After sharing her Instagram story, Cyrell received many messages of support from friends which she reposted, condemning racism in Australia. She posted the following after the incident:

Thank you to everyone for the support today… Eden and I have received such amazing messages and we thank u. Racism needs to stop. And it starts just by supporting one another. Like everyone has done so today. And to this man that stands beside…. I thank u for being there for me. Shoal bay we love u. #saynotoracism #ilovemyblackskin.

The Pelican Café is still yet to comment on the incident.
