Melbourne‘s Crown Casino has been evacuated following an incident in which a man claimed to have an explosive device.
According to the Herald Sun, Crown Casino issued a statement saying that the issue was resolved peacefully:
An isolated incident occurred at Crown Melbourne involving one patron. The issue was resolved peacefully with the assistance of Victorian Police. As this is now a police matter Crown will not be making any further comments.
Victoria Police have said that the issue is resolved but that they are currently investigating it:
Police responded to an incident at Crown Casino in Melbourne this afternoon. Police currently have one man in custody and the Bomb Response Unit will be conducting a safety check of the complex. The matter remains under investigation.
9 News is reporting that “several witnesses” called police around 3:30 in the afternoon after a 55-year-old man wearing a backpack was spotted “acting erratically“.
According to 2GB, an employee was warned by Crown to avoid the west side of the building:
A mother has told @SydneyLive2GB off air – that her daughter who works for Crown Casino in Melbourne – has been texted by her employer to keep away from the west side of the building. Police are responding to an incident at the Casino, & evacuations have begun.

All reports are indicating that is has been resolved without incident.
