Last time we touched base with the unfettered goonery free-speech protectionism of Party for Freedom, the group’s founder Nick Folkes was bigging up a proposed rally to commemorate the Cronulla riots, ten years on.
CRONULLA BANNER

Reactions from the powers that be were even-handed, considering the implications of, uh, celebrating the wanton bashing of innocent Australians under the guise of keeping Australia safe from foreign menaces. Police and council authorities actually took the time to look through the group’s proposal, before deciding that no, it’d be a totally, unimaginably bad idea.
A bad idea to the extent that they’re pushing for a legal injunction on the whole deal.
Folkes doubled down in court yesterday, and today he reaffirmed his group’s commitment to celebrating one of the most tragically backwards moments in modern Australian history, saying he believes “we have a democratic right to be down there.”
A democratic right to celebrate “a time that Australian men stood up and defended their suburb, and said: ‘We like to drink beer and we like our women to wear bikinis’.”
Unless the rally’s organisers recognise the implications of both the possible injunction and the implicit lunacy of the event itself, the dumpsterfire of a rally is set for December 12.
