Health minister Brad Hazzard took over NSW’s 11am COVID presser this Saturday morning and delivered the news that the state recorded 1035 COVID cases (bad) but a whopping 156,165 vaccinations yesterday (good!).
Hazzard fronted media to crunch the NSW vax numbers, saying: “
He brushed over the 1035 COVID cases — which happens to be a record high — quickly, since the pressers controversially no longer touch on how many people were infectious in the community, or how many cases are currently unlinked.

NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty elaborated on the current COVID cases, clarifying that 778 people are currently in hospital, 125 are ICU and 52 people currently require ventilation, adding that “quite a few young people in their 20s and 30s need intensive care”. Of the people in ICU, 110 are unvaccinated, 14 have received one dose, and one person is double vaxxed.
If this isn’t a call to get yourself vaccinated, not sure what is!

Minister Hazzard also delivered some good(ish) news that people who want to get hitched can officially get married as of 12.01am this coming Friday September 3.
The catch is you can only have five (5) guests, which includes the person officiating the wedding. “So as from 12.01am Friday this coming week, couples who wish to marry will be able to marry,” Hazzard said.
“But with minimal guests in attendance, so there will be five guests allowed in addition to those who obviously will be necessary for the actual service, so those officiating and perhaps a photographer to record the event, we will work through that during the course of the week.”
The solution: make your bestie get a celebrant license online and kill two birds with one stone.
All adult Aussies (yep, even if those of us under 40) are currently able to get the safe and effective AstraZeneca vaccine through a GP. Click here to see which clinics are offering it, and talk to a doctor to see if it’s right for you.
Alternatively, you can triple-check to see if you’re eligible for the Pfizer vaccine here.
The best vaccine is the first one you can get, and that’ll be our ticket out of this mess.
