COVID-19 Stockpiling Facebook Groups Are A Thing & Mum, Can You Pick Me Up Now, I’m Scared

As the threat of coronavirus grows in Australia, panic-buyers are stockpiling groceries like we’re on the verge of a fucking zombie apocalypse. Sit down, buckle up and get ready to lose all faith in humanity.

If you’ve been to your local Woolies or Coles lately, you probably left pretty well empty handed with usually-abundant grocery items like pasta, long life milk and canned legumes all completely sold-out.

Why? Well, it’s not because there’s an immediate need to turn into a doomsday prepper. But it appears that common sense has been completely lost on the hundreds of Australians who have lost their fucking marbles stockpiling for the coronavirus pandemic.

To make matters worse, these people are taking to social media to boast about their panic-buying efforts in Facebook groups like Aussie Stockpiling. Yes. It really does exist.

A quick search will show numerous Facebook groups such as Aussie Stockpiling, Aussie Stockpile Queens and Aussies Stockpiling for COVID-19, in which, hundreds of Australians are commending each other on their frankly ridiculous panic-buying.

In case you’ve forgotten, there’s absolutely no need to excessively stockpile right now. It would be wise to keep 2-3 weeks worth of non-perishable food items stocked in case you need to self-isolate, but you do not need 47 bags of pasta. I promise you, please leave some spaghetti for the rest of us.
