Courtney Act Went To Town On The NSW Police Minister Who Thinks BLM Posters Are Offensive

Courtney Act has clapped back at the NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott, who had a go at a Sydney school for encouraging students to make Black Lives Matter posters.

Earlier this week, Elliott spoke to a number of media outlets calling for a NSW teacher to be sacked over “stop killer cops”, “Black Lives Matter”, and “change climate change” posters.

Elliot spoke on the Today show, and said the school was “pushing left-wing ideologies” and that it was the “sort of indoctrination that distorts our education system.” And what ideology would that be? Equality?

Courtney Act wasn’t buying it either and posted a heartfelt rebuttal to Elliot’s argument, which essentially called teachers “racist” for saying white lives matter too much.

“It is April 2021, you have had enough time as the NSW Police Minister to understand the implicitly racist tone of what you are saying,” Courtney said.

“Black Lives Matter does not mean that white lives don’t matter. If you’re that incompetent then I think what you should be pushing in schools, instead of reading and writing, is comprehension. Because clearly you didn’t learn that when you were in school.

“Australia has a race problem periodt… Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the most incarcerated people in the world. They are 3% of our population, yet are almost 30% of our incarcerations.

“Last month, there was five deaths of First Nations people in custody in Australia. This comes 30 years after the Royal Commission into Indigenous deaths in custody and it’s just NOT good enough.

“And for the NSW Police Minister to be so racist on television, and completely and intentionally misconstrue and misrepresent the messaging of Black Lives Matter is problematic and contributes to the issues at hand. ”

Tonnes of people on Instagram commended Courtney for their eloquent words and for speaking out while many Australians in the public eye stay silent.

“Thanks you for your voice @courtneyact this means volumes,” Bachie alum Brooke Blurton wrote on Instagram.

“Period,” Singer Sam Sparro wrote.

We love you Courtney Act.
