If you had one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment… would you capture it, or just let it slip?
That’s probably what was going through the head of a Sydney courier who got the sack after he filmed himself yeeting a parcel addressed to none other than NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
The bloke filmed himself inside the CouriersPlease sorting room, and it was this footage which was later obtained by 7NEWS.
“Ladies and gentlemen: fucking Gladys, the piece of shit,” the courier can be heard saying.
He then turns to his workmate while holding the package.
“I’ve got a shipment for Gladys, look, look, look,” the man said.
“You know what you do with this?” he added, before chucking the parcel across the warehouse.
The shipping company has now issued a statement saying that this is not how packages are usually handled, actually.
“CouriersPlease has been alerted to a video circulating on the internet in relation to a parcel addressed to the NSW Premier’s office,” the company said.
“The content of the video in no way reflects the values or code of conduct at CouriersPlease.
“The freight handler in the video was dismissed immediately as part of our investigation, and we are also speaking with our franchisees and employees to ensure everyone adheres to our code of conduct.”
CouriersPlease has since pulled down its Facebook page, possibly preempting a tidal wave of angry Gladys stans.
The handling of the NSW lockdown has really polarised the community. Essential workers in particular have routinely been fucked over by the state and federal governments, despite being the backbone which keeps our society functioning during lockdown.
Maybe this is all just a metaphor, or something.
