Remember Brexit? Remember that whole thing? Well, the fallout is still continuing, as the Conservatives in the UK try to find a leader to replace Prime Minister David Cameron, who intends to step aside after the nation voted to leave the European Union.
After a bit of a bout, in which favourite contender Boris Johnson was basically knocked out of the competition by Michael Gove, it looks like the stakes have narrowed further – and the two remaining candidates are both women.
Either Theresa May, the home secretary, or Andrea Leadsom, the pro-Brexit junior energy minister, will be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The last woman to be UK PM was Margaret Thatcher – also a Conservative.

The July 5 Tory contest ended with May on 199 votes, Leadsom on 84, and Gove on 46. Gove was therefore knocked out.
It’s an interesting contest. May was in David Cameron’s Remain camp during the Brexit referendum, whereas Leadsom wanted to leave. They’re both committed to negotiating an exit, but they may have wildly different approaches to the process.
