In what might be one of the more Australian-sounding mysteries in recent memory, cops in Melbourne have taken a trip out to the tip to search for suspected human remains after receiving a tip-off from a garbage truck driver.
The driver reckons he saw a human hand when dropping off garbage just before 10am, but was unable to stop it from being covered in garbage in time.
As of this afternoon police are still excavating the tip in Melbourne’s Hampton Park and have yet to report finding anything.
This would not be the first time a body was found in the tip: in 2014 a tip employee found a partially dressed body (which they thought was a mannequin at first), whose death was ruled not to be suspicious by cops.
If my body is ever found in the tip, please, please treat it as very suspicious: I can tell you right now I don’t plan to end up in the tip.
