Convicted Rapist & Murderer Adrian Bayley Has Been Stabbed In Prison

Adrian Bayley, convicted murder and rapist, has reportedly suffered minor injuries after being attacked and stabbed by a fellow inmate in prison.

Fairfax Media reports that Bayley, who is being held in Victoria’s Barwon Prison, was set upon by an unidentified inmate on Thursday. In the course of the altercation Bayley was stabbed with a fork, resulting in minor injuries.

At the time of the attack it’s believed that Bayley was being held in the Hoya unit – a demountable unit inside Barwon that is seperate from the other buildings in the facility. The protective unit houses prisoners considered to be at high-risk of being attacked.

A spokesperson for Corrections Victoria would only confirm that a minor incident had taken place at the prison, and that no investigation was being conducted as a result, stating: “The prisoner was assessed and treated at the prison, but did not require hospitalisation or any ongoing treatment. Police were notified and will investigate.

Bayley’s injuries were treated at the prison.

The 46-year-old Bayley is serving life in prison for the 2012 rape and murder of Jill Meagher, a crime that shocked the city of Melbourne and prompted an overhaul of the parole system in Victoria. He is also serving time after being convicted of raping two other women.

He has spent the vast bulk of the past five years in the Hoya unit at Barwon, where he is believed to be particularly loathed by other inmates due to his case resulting in the tightening of parole regulations.

Bayley himself will be eligible for parole in 2055, when he is 83-years-old.
